low grocery prices in Norco and CoronaBOISE, Idaho – November 4, 2013 – WinCo Foods, LLC announced that it will open two new discount supermarkets on Thursday, November 7, at 9:00 a.m. The stores are located at 1485 W. Appleway Ave. in Coeur d’Alene and at 1100 Hamner Ave. in Norco. The stores are somewhat smaller than traditional WinCo Foods stores with Coeur d’Alene measuring approximately 75,000 square feet and Norco coming in at approximately 65,000 square feet. Each will reflect a new color scheme and décor package that creates a solid, clean feel and coordinates with the hundreds of new private label items that WinCo has recently brought to the market under its own name.

WinCo Foods is an employee owned discount grocery chain known primarily for being the supermarket low price leader in each market it serves. Store Manager Joel C. (Coeur d’Alene) comes to the store from Yuba City, California and has 31 years of experience with WinCo. Store Manager Jackie R. transfers to Norco with 30 years of experience in the grocery industry – the last two years with WinCo, most recently in Moreno Valley.

Both management teams are excited about their respective store openings and are particularly pleased with the quality employees that were hired in each location. Coeur d’Alene had over 7,000 applicants for 156 positions hired locally to join 35 current WinCo employees who transferred to the store. Norco received over 8,000 applications for the 139 positions hired locally to join the 36 transferring WinCo employees. Each store manager feels confident that their store will open with an excited and motivated crew who are anxious to meet and to begin serving their customers in each community.

Each store features WinCo’s traditional “Wall of Values” at the entry, which features special low pricing on a variety of popular items. The main sales floor contains a large fresh produce department, bulk foods, meat, seafood, deli and bakery service departments (Norco will have pre-packaged bakery only). The unique bulk foods department displays over 900 items, including many natural food products, some organics, snacks, candies, cereals, flours, pastas, spices and more. WinCo employees are excited for customers to come in to see the new stores and to benefit from the everyday low pricing and quality that WinCo Foods is known for.
