Class II Recall 006-2016 Health Risk: Low Jan 16, 2016 ongressional and Public Affairs Katherine Scheidt (202) 720-9113 WASHINGTON, Jan. 16, 2016 – Kayem Foods Inc., a Chelsea, Mass. establishment, is recalling approximately 22,182 pounds of chicken sausage products due to misbranding, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The products bear the incorrect nutritional labeling information and are encased in pork casings, which are not declared on the label and may elicit allergic reactions in those allergic to pork proteins. The chicken sausage items were produced on Nov. 4, 2015. The following product is subject to recall: [View Labels 12-oz. vacuum-packed packages containing “al fresco SWEET APPLE CHICKEN SAUSAGE” bearing identification code “308 BW12 USE/FRZ BY FEB 7, 2016.” The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. P-7839” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide. The problem was discovered after the firm received consumer complaints that the product listed nutritional information for a different product, “al fresco Apple Maple Breakfast” sausages. TEXAS WinCo Stores Only - Capri Sun and Kool-Aid Jammers Recall The Kraft Heinz Company is voluntarily recalling approximately 20,000 cases of select code dates and manufacturing codes of Capri Sun and Kool-Aid Jammers ready-to-drink products as a precaution due to the possible presence of small fragments of glass. The recall is limited to cartons with 10-6 oz (177mL) Capri Sun and Kool-Aid Jammers with Best When Used By Dates of 08 DEC 2016 through 12 DEC 2016, followed by the Manufacturing Code GR02. The ready-to-drink pouches inside the carton will also have the Manufacturing Code beginning with GR. The GR codes refer to the production lines on which the impacted product was made. No other sizes, varieties or code dates are included in this recall. Only Manufacturing Code “GR02” as part of the code date is included in this recall. The recalled product was shipped by Kraft Heinz to select retailers in the Southwest U.S. in the states of Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, and Louisiana. SpaghettiOs Original 14.2oz Cans Recalled Due to Potential Choking Hazard Campbell Soup Company is voluntarily recalling 14.2 ounce cans of SpaghettiOs Original due to a potential choking hazard posed by pieces of red plastic found in a small number of cans. This plastic material is from parts of the can lining which may peel off. The affected 14.2 ounce SpaghettiOs Original product has a date of February 22, 2017 which is stamped on the base of the can, and a UPC code of 51000 22432 printed under the bar code. The issue was identified after the company received consumer complaints. This recall affects 355,000 cans and is limited to the United States. This product should not be eaten. People who have bought the affected product should return it to the store where it was purchased for an exchange or full refund. Voluntary Recall of Kozy Shack® Indulgent Recipe™ Vanilla Bean Pudding Kozy Shack is initiating a recall of one lot of Kozy Shack® Indulgent Recipe™ Vanilla Bean Pudding and one lot of Kozy Shack® Indulgent Recipe™ Salted Caramel Pudding that were produced at their Turlock facility in late September. The recall is necessary because an unknown number of Salted Caramel sleeves were placed over Vanilla Bean pudding cups. In addition, some cases labeled as Vanilla Bean contain sleeves labeled as Salted Caramel, though they contain Vanilla Bean pudding. Vanilla Bean contains egg, while Salted Caramel does not. As a result, some of the package sleeves do not include the required egg allergen declaration. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these mislabeled products. Notice of Voluntary Recall of Certain Martinelli's 8.4 oz. Sparkling Beverages Due to Potential for Glass Fragments S. Martinelli & Company today announced a voluntary recall of Martinelli’s 8.4 oz. mini glass bottles of Gold Medal Sparkling Cider, Sparkling Cider Northwest Blend, Sparkling White Grape, and Sparkling Red Grape, due to the possibility of small glass chips at the top of the bottles occurring when opening the bottle, which could possibly enter the beverage. Consumers could potentially be cut or injured if a chip occurs. This recall is being carried out to the user level. Only certain lots of the 8.4 oz. bottles, typically known in the trade as “mini-bottles,” of Martinelli’s Gold Medal Sparkling Cider, Sparkling Cider Northwest Blend, Sparkling White Grape, and Sparkling Red Grape are affected by this recall. GENERAL MILLS ISSUES VOLUNTARY CLASS I RECALL OF CHEERIOS AND HONEY NUT CHEERIOS CEREAL PRODUCED AT ITS LODI, CALIFORNIA LOCATION ON CERTAIN DATES Minneapolis, Minn. - Oct. 5, 2015 – General Mills is voluntarily recalling several days of production of Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios cereal produced at its Lodi, California facility on certain dates in July of this year because of an undeclared allergen – wheat – with potential adverse health effects. Because this recall relates to an undeclared allergen, this is a Class I product recall. Cheerios and Honey Nut Cheerios produced on these dates at the company’s Lodi, California facility are being recalled because an isolated incident resulted in wheat flour being inadvertently introduced into the gluten free oat flour system at its Lodi facility. As a result, the products may contain an undeclared allergen – wheat – in products labeled as gluten-free. General Mills will recall and retrieve affected cereals produced on those dates from customer warehouses and store shelves. Consumers with wheat allergies, celiac disease or gluten intolerance should not consume products bearing the affected code dates and should contact General Mills for a replacement or full refund. Hazard: The defect area is on the underside of the rim where the steel was incompletely rolled-under. Recalled Product: The recalled roasters are large oval roasting pans with built in handles. Purchased between August 2014 & October 2014. The pan is stamped from one piece of metal. It is completely coated in non-stick coating, giving it a grey appearance. The roaster has exterior dimensions of 21” x 15”. The interior dimensions are 17” x 13.5”. There are 26 indents pressed into each handle. There are 11 ridges in the bottom of the roaster to elevate the meat, while cooking. They are sold individually. The package is labeled “Jumbo Roaster.” Bradshaw International Inc. and UPC 0-76753-04315-1 or 0-41220-32403-3 are written on the back of the package. September 4, 2015 URGENT RECALL NOTICE TO CUSTOMERS Andrew and Williamson Voluntarily Recalls Certain Limited Edition Brand® Cucumbers Because of Possible Health Risk Andrew and Williamson Fresh Produce (“A&W”) of San Diego, California is voluntarily recalling all cucumbers sold under the Limited Edition® label during the period from August 1, 2015 through September 3, 2015 because they may be contaminated with Salmonella. A&W is currently working with health authorities to determine if, in fact, this product is the source of an outbreak of Salmonella poona, with 285 illnesses reported to date in 27 states. In the meantime, out of an abundance of caution, the company is taking all actions necessary to prevent further consumption of potentially affected products. Limited Edition® cucumbers were distributed in the states of Alaska, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Minnesota, Montana, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah and reached customers through retail, food service companies, wholesalers, and brokers. These cucumbers are shipped in a black, green, yellow, and craft colored carton which reads “Limited Edition Pole Grown Cucumbers.” This variety is often referred to as a “Slicer” or “American” cucumber. It has a dark green color. It typically has a length of 7 to 10 inches and a diameter of 1.75 to 2.5 inches. Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis, and arthritis.
