The company has ceased the distribution of the product due to reports of product bloating and swelling and some claims of illness as the company continues its investigation to identify the root cause. The potentially affected product was distributed nationwide from its Twin Falls, Idaho facility and was delivered to consumers through retail and club stores. FOOD RECALL: VOLUNTARY CLASS II - Elevated Levels of Cadmium This is to inform you of a product recall involving: FLAV-R-PAC, IQF, Chopped Spinach, 6/32oz; UPC: 0 48800 30238 2 and Production/ Lot: BEST BY FEB 2015 / 5F3 1248 19 HH: MM (411 cases). No other lot numbers are involved. The recall has been initiated due to the presence of elevated levels of the heavy metal cadmium based on recent surveillance testing by the Food and Drug Administration. Use of, or consumption of this product presents a potential moderate or remote health risk. Salmolux Recalls Cold Smoked Salmon Products Because Of Possible Health Risk Contact Consumer: 253-874-2026 Media: Michelle Cole 503-277-0940 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – May 25, 2013 – Salmolux of Federal Way, WA is recalling its cold smoked salmon products because it has the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. No illnesses have been reported. The recall was the result of a routine sampling program by FDA which revealed that the finished products contained the bacteria. Salmolux has voluntarily initiated the recall and is continuing its investigation. The company is currently contacting its customers who are affected by this recall. California Firm Recalls Ready-To-Eat Grilled Chicken Strips Due To Misbranding and Undeclared Allergens Recall Release CLASS II RECALL HEALTH RISK: LOW FSIS-RC-036-2013 Congressional and Public Affairs Atiya Khan (202) 720-9113 WASHINGTON, May 21, 2013 –Foster Farms, a Porterville, Calif. establishment, is recalling approximately 6,165 pounds of ready-to-eat grilled chicken breast strips that contain wheat and soy, known allergens, which are not declared on the product label, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The following products are subject to recall: [Label] 4.5 lb. cases containing 12, 6-oz. trays of "FOSTER FARMS GRILLED CHICKEN BREAST STRIPS BONELESS & SKINLESS WITH RIB MEAT 97% FAT FREE," with an identifying case code of "000606." The recalled product bears the establishment number "P-20923" inside the USDA mark of inspection and a use-by date of "JUN 22 2013" printed on each tray. The product was produced on April 23, 2013, and was distributed to retail establishments in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington. The problem was discovered as a result of a customer complaint and occurred because the company inadvertently used labels for another chicken product it produces that does not contain wheat or soy. Sprouter Northwest Recalls Alfafa, Brocco Sandwich Sprouts, Clover, Spicy Sprouts Because of Possible Health Risk FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - January 28, 2013 - Sprouters Northwest of Kent, Washington is recalling 1953 pounds of alfalfa, clover, brocco sandwich sprouts, and spicy sprouts due to the potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. Products were distributed from 1/10/13 to 1/18/13 in Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and British Columbia, Canada through retail stores and food service distribution chain.
